Message From The Commodore

Hello friends!  I have now completed my first few months as your commodore, and so far, they have been eventful but smooth.  I was a little nervous when whispers of Storm Ida was predicted the third day of my tenure, but we missed that one. Whew!

Pine Beach’s volunteer crew of Arne Lind-Hansen, Russ Whitman, Sr. and Steve Schwartz came back from a full day on the East River on October 9, attending to the rowers participating in Rockin’ the Boat rowing around Manhattan.  They reported a beautiful event under cloudy skies. Ask Steve to see his photos, they were great!  The communications were a bit unclear this year, but in the future if anyone from the club would like to volunteer his time, please contact me for details.  It is a large commitment and a big responsibility, but our volunteers love this event.

Our Social Committee has been working hard to keep the events rolling.  Please support these events if you are free. Check our website for upcoming events.

We have had several rentals in the last few weeks that have been successful and brought in some income that we have been missing since Covid restrictions.

Boats need to be off the beach and out of the slips by November 1, which is a town ordinance.  If you are still using your boat, please contact Jason Krajewski as he will be winterizing the docks soon.

Optis and other junior boats need to be taken home as the space in the yard is only available for a fee.  If you want a space in the yard contact Jason Krajewski.  Boats left in the yard should be maintained, registered and insured.

We were so fortunate to have had a “normal” summer and we hope that this will continue.  I hope to see you at the Club!

Fondly, Your Commodore

Kim Cuneo
